Welcome
to Keltruck's September 2009 e-newsletter. I hope that
you enjoy reading about our latest news &
developments – please contact Chris D. Kelly, Marketing
Director (contact details below), with any comments or
feedback.
This
month we are highlighting a selection of new &
unregistered Euro 4 specification vehicles available
from stock – click
here for details.
Also,
there is a debate underway at present about spending billions of pounds of your money on a new faster rail line between London and the Midlands, and to possibly go on up to
Scotland.
My
view is that, if there are billions of pounds available to spend on transport, then we need some decent roads, and certainly not spending billions on getting a few politicians to and from Westminster and their constituencies half an hour faster than they can do at present.
Could I therefore call on you to register your opinion via
this
survey link.
With
best wishes,

Chris
Kelly

New
vehicle of the month
Drakelow, Burton-on-Trent based
Roger Bullivant Ltd
has just taken delivery of a new Scania P380 LB 8x2*6 HHA day
cab with Opticruise.
The new vehicle,
supplied through
Keltruck Burton,
will be operating for their Midland Underpinning
company. The vehicle's main duty
will be the delivery of equipment, including mini drill rigs and steel tubing, to sites around the country.
Featuring bespoke bodywork including on board red diesel tank and pump for filling plant equipment and a rear mounted Fassi
crane with
full remote control,
this rear steer rigid vehicle certainly looks the part.
The vehicle is pictured at Roger
Bullivant Ltd before heading out to work and was supplied by
Keltruck's Alan Hill.

Meet
the team
This
month sees the
sixth instalment of our new
feature where,
each month, we profile a member of the top team. This
month Keltruck's newly promoted Aftersales
Director, Russ
Warner...
Kelnews: How would you describe your role at Keltruck?
RW: Responsible for the aftersales side of the business, which includes 14 service workshops, two Accident repair
centres, a couple of vehicle maintenance units (VMUs) and the largest
Scania vehicle recycling facility in Europe.
Kelnews:
When did you start at Keltruck?
RW: I joined the company in 1987 as a paid YTS Trainee from Sandwell College, so pretty much from boy to man
(yes, that’s 22 years and I’ve loved every minute of my time served, even though folk say I’d have got less
as a 'lifer'!)
Kelnews: What did you do before
joining Keltruck?
RW: I guess I’d better keep this answer clean as it’s going out to the public, but I did work straight from school with a great pal of mine working for his
father's steel erecting business prior to my placement starting at Keltruck, but my real interests were always in trucks.
Have to say that I never really had the head for heights!
Kelnews: So how did you get into the industry then?
RW: From a young age I spent many an hour in the garage at home working with my father repairing and re-building engines from petrol lawn movers and then
family and friends' cars, so I knew even then that this was what I wanted to do when I left school. I remember being passenger in my father’s car
travelling past Keltruck most weekends, thinking “I’d love to work there”, so called in prior to leaving to see if I could secure a placement –
as they say, the rest's history...
Kelnews: What do you like about the industry?
RW: Like so many of my other colleges, I have to say the great characters –
that includes our customers, suppliers and last, but not least, my fellow workforce, most
of whom have become great friends.
Kelnews: What do you do outside of work?
RW: Whilst I’ve got a passion for cars and motorbikes (in particular Porsche
Carreras) I’ve spent the last three years rebuilding our family home, which was formally a
1970s bungalow (alias 'The porno pad'!) Now near the end of the
project
–
there’s not a trace of shag pile carpet, tinted mirrors or large retro
jacuzzi in sight! What will I do next?!
Kelnews: What was your first car?!
RW: First car was a Mark II Escort, but the list includes a Fiesta XR2, VW Golf GTI, Westfield (which I built from scratch) and a Porsche Carrera 4, which finally had to go when we moved
house.
Kelnews: So what does the future hold?
RW: Many more years at Keltruck, eventually though to retirement I hope. I’d like to say a special thanks to Chris Kelly at this point for seeing something in me, sticking by me and giving me the opportunity to be where I am today.

Stop the VOSA closures
Keltruck has joined forces with
RoadTransport.com,
Motor Transport and Commercial Motor to launch a campaign to prevent any further closures of VOSA test stations until suitable, viable alternatives are in place.
VOSA has been tasked by the Department for Transport with transferring 85% of commercial vehicle annual tests to privately run facilities by 2012. As a result, VOSA needs to close a large proportion of its 90 test stations over the next three years.
This year
three
stations have closed – Par, Cornwall,
Bredbury, Cheshire
and Llandrindod
Wells. The fourth and only other station closure announced to date is in Steeton, West Yorkshire, which local operators and their MP are battling furiously to save. At the moment VOSA says Steeton will close by March 2010.
The alarming factor is that VOSA pledged at the start of the year not to close any stations until privately run Authorised Testing Facilities (ATFs) were in place. With no ATFs established – not even an ATF contract available for prospective ATF providers to look at – it is unreasonable and irrational that local test stations are already closing.
Many of our readers have told us that these closures are going to severely disrupt their businesses and add yet more costs to their bottom line –
so we have listened and decided to take a stand by launching our ‘Stop the VOSA Closures’ campaign.

Trailer

Ensure your trailers are maintained as professionally as your trucks.
The 16,000 trailer parts we stock alone mean there are 16,000 good reasons to come to Scania for all your trailer servicing requirements. And with all work carried out by fully-trained Scania Technicians operating to the highest possible standards, here's a further ten irresistible reasons to add to that list:
Convenience
With Scania already providing a full complement of repair and maintenance services for all makes of commercial vehicles, it makes perfect sense to entrust your trailer servicing to us too. Quite simply we take care of everything, with one-stop shopping, reduced administration and no more chasing around after suppliers being just three of the benefits you will reap. Put together with all the other advantages offered by Scania, it all adds up to just one thing: convenience.
All types and makes covered
From flatbeds to moving-floor double decks; from drawbar eco-fridges to specialised load carriers – no matter what type of trailer you operate, we are equipped to service and repair it. And our extensive parts stock-holding covers all makes, ensuring parts availability is high and downtime is
minimised.
Tanker support
In addition to all the above, Scania also offers a nationwide tanker support service, covering all aspects of tanker maintenance including mandatory Vapour Tightness and ADR Leakproof testing for petroleum tankers. In cooperation with our Competent Authority Partners, we can also provide a Written Scheme of Examination in line with specific customer requirements.
Ancillary equipment
Scania has extensive experience of installing and maintaining a wide range of ancillary equipment including tail-lifts, refrigeration systems and shutter doors, and provides full legal compliance services, such as LOLER testing, wherever required. Today, we work in partnership with many leading ancillary equipment suppliers and have integrated their replacement parts into our own supply chain system.
Flexible and competitive servicing programmes
From a single repair to a fully-managed on-going support programme we will provide the service you need to keep your trailers on the road.
Our bespoke range of Service and Repair & Maintenance support programmes are individually-tailored to meet every need. In addition, our Centrally Managed contracts service provides a full open-book management reporting service, assuring you of best-value at all times.

Over the past two decades Scania and its dealers have invested heavily in our 90-strong UK network of service centres, making the service we offer today truly second-to-none. We firmly believe our fully-skilled Technicians are the best in the industry, and they work with the latest generation diagnostic equipment and specialist tools to deliver service of the highest quality, time after time.
High MOT pass rates
A consequence of excellent service is excellent MOT pass rates. Once again, our expert Technicians and state-of-the-art equipment, assures the best possible attention when it comes to MOT preparation.
Scania Assistance
All Scania trailer servicing work is fully guaranteed and covered by the nationwide Scania Assistance roadside assistance service. That means in the unlikely event of your trailer breaking down on the road, one call to Scania assistance will ensure a quick attendance to get your trailer back in service as rapidly as possible. With an average call-out time of just 60 minutes, Scania Assistance is available no matter where or when you need it. The service includes roadside assistance or, if need be, recovery to the nearest Scania service centre.
Accident management
Scania has recently launched a new Accident Management and Repair Network, a nationwide service which includes damage to trailers. In the event of an accident, we can take care of everything – from recovery of the trailer, through all liaison with insurance companies, to returning your trailer to the road and ready for service in the shortest possible time.
Experience
Trailer servicing is nothing new to Scania – we have been providing a full trailer maintenance service to a number of Britain's leading transport operators for many years. Included here are leading supermarket retailers, express parcel delivery companies and home-delivery service providers. So why not join them by taking a look at what we can offer you?
Peace of mind
The three words that sum up our trailer service – and every other service – provided by Scania today. Put it to the test, by contacting your local Scania dealer today. We're sure you won't be
disappointed.

Good
News for Old Friends
Keeping your Scania 4-series truck as good as new and your costs under control
At Keltruck there's Good News For Old Friends – literally – as
that's the name of Scania's new aftersales programme designed to
help the operators of Scania 4-series trucks maintain them in
the best possible condition at minimum cost.
We appreciate that preserving your vehicles in prime order
is a vital part of the profitability mix, especially when they have
clocked up a number of year's service. So we have designed a
new Keltruck Scania Support Programme with the 4-series specifically
in mind.
At the heart of the programme is a
Keltruck Scania Service contract that provides comprehensive maintenance to manufacturers
guidelines and ensures protection of your operators licence at a
fixed monthly cost. The programme features 12 or 24 months
contract terms and includes all ministry inspections and routine
maintenance to manufacturers guidelines.
In addition to the above you can also rest assured that we
never compromise on quality and that only Scania parts, fitted
by fully trained Keltruck Scania technicians, will be used on your vehicle.
