New
vehicle of the month
Coalville, Leicestershire based
David Stanley Transport recently took delivery of this impressive Scania R420LB8x2*6HSA prime mover & drawbar trailer with a Fassi crane & NATO (Army) front tow beam (this allows the crane to lift heavy equipment over/ in front of the cab in a stable and safe way).
The new vehicle joins the David Stanley Transport fleet of 25 (all Scania) vehicles. The R420 is a 4 axled chassis cab at 32 tonne GVW or at up 44 tonne GTW - and because of the distance it travels and the driver being away a lot the company upgraded the cab to a CR19 highline 2 man sleeper with extra high roof height. Mounted on the chassis cab is a Fassi F800BXP crane - fully remote controlled and capable of lifting 3 tonnes at 18 meters or 20 tonnes at 3 metres. The crane can lift from any point right through 360 degrees making it highly specialised equipment.
The vehicle was supplied by
Keltruck's Ivor Morris and will be maintained at
Keltruck
Groby.
David Stanley Transport have been in business as a portable buildings transportation/modular buildings relocation/rebuilding on site company for some 30+ years and started buying Scania in 1995. Pleased with the performance of the product and its aftercare service by Keltruck Groby this has lead to the company continuing its faith in Keltruck/Scania as its preferred supplier to support the David Stanley company in its activities
nationwide.

Meet
the team
This
month sees the
seventh instalment of our new
feature where,
each month, we profile a member of the top team. This
month Keltruck's General
Manager
–
Parts Operations, Steve
Hughes...
Kelnews: How would you describe your role at Keltruck?
SH: I tend inherently to look after all of the parts aspects of the business, however a recent change in our Aftersales structure has seen an element of
service department management re-applied. This coupled with the
group reporting functionality for all aftersales key
performance indicators keeps me relatively busy!
Kelnews: When did you start at Keltruck?
SH: I started back in October 2002 and was treated to a jolly, oops, management trip to Palma within weeks of starting. Dream job or
what?!
Kelnews: What did you do before joining Keltruck?
SH: I generally come from the car trade where I progressed through the ranks from Parts Supervisor, to Parts Manager, to Parts & Service Manager and, finally, General Aftersales Manager with responsibility for all
aftersales activities including parts, service,
bodyshop & fast-fit operations. These positions were held with Ford and Toyota dealership
groups.
After completing my time there I gained a position with Carter & Carter working for the
aftersales consultancy scheme for Peugeot prior to being head hunted by John Biggin/Simon Hobson for the position with Keltruck.
Kelnews: So how did you get into the industry then?
SH: I have always had an interest in the mechanical and, as such, followed a path that made me happy to go to work. Hold on I must be mad – no, I really do enjoy the industry in its
entirety!
Kelnews: What do you like about the industry?
SH: The diverse nature of the business, no two days are ever the same
(like answering these questions, for example!) and mostly the great characters/colleagues that I have met and have the privilege of calling friends.
Kelnews: What do you do outside of work?
SH: I tend to apply myself to DIY around the house as it helps me to relax,
whilst also liking to socialize. I have also been known to sing the odd
karaoke song!
Kelnews: What was your first car?
SH: My first car, well what can I say... A Datsun F11 100A.
A great little car, however this was soon replaced by love of
3 litre Capris (old Fords never die you know!) before the career allocated company car usage.
Kelnews: So what does the future hold?
SH: All I can say really is more success, business growth through an industry foresight coupled with a passion to make everything work.
Scania Fixed Price Repair programme extended
Scania has extended its Fixed Price Repair programme to cover an even broader selection of common workshop tasks. Among the many jobs now provided at an all-inclusive, up-front price are all small, medium and large services.
"Since its launch earlier this year, our Fixed Price Repair initiative has rapidly established itself as a popular choice among operators nationwide," comments James Armstrong, Aftersales Director for Scania (Great Britain) Limited. "That's because with the promise of no surprises or hidden costs, our fixed price options have done much to make life easier.
"As well as widening the range we have adjusted the pricing of many jobs to be more competitive than ever and also have a number of special eye-catching offers running until the end of the year (see table below). Furthermore, it's not just the current Scania P, G and R series that are covered; 3 and 4 series Scania trucks and buses and coaches also form part of the
programme."

Good
News for Old Friends
Keeping your Scania 4-series truck as good as new and your costs under control
At Keltruck there's Good News For Old Friends – literally – as
that's the name of Scania's new aftersales programme designed to
help the operators of Scania 4-series trucks maintain them in
the best possible condition at minimum cost.
We appreciate that preserving your vehicles in prime order
is a vital part of the profitability mix, especially when they have
clocked up a number of year's service. So we have designed a
new Keltruck Scania Support Programme with the 4-series specifically
in mind.
At the heart of the programme is a
Keltruck Scania Service contract that provides comprehensive maintenance to manufacturers
guidelines and ensures protection of your operators licence at a
fixed monthly cost. The programme features 12 or 24 months
contract terms and includes all ministry inspections and routine
maintenance to manufacturers guidelines.
In addition to the above you can also rest assured that we
never compromise on quality and that only Scania parts, fitted
by fully trained Keltruck Scania technicians, will be used on your vehicle.
