Welcome
to Keltruck's August 2009 e-newsletter. I hope that
you enjoy reading about our latest news &
developments please contact Chris D. Kelly, Marketing
Director (contact details below), with any comments or
feedback.
This
month I am delighted to announce the promotion of Andrew
Jamieson to Managing Director & Dealer
Principal and of Russ
Warner to Aftersales Director. I wish them both
every success in their new roles. Andrew, who joined
us in March 2007, is extremely well known in the
industry and within the Scania network & has a
track record of achievement at the highest levels.
Russ recently celebrated 20 years with the company
having started with us as a YTS trainee at West
Bromwich in October 1987 so this is a major personal
achievement for him & another milestone in the
company's development. Neil
Vazey also steps up from West Bromwich Depot
Manager to General Manager of our West Bromwich
location which encompasses the depot, recycling
(used Scania parts) & an accident
repair centre/paintshop.
Like Russ, Neil started at West Bromwich as an
apprentice back in December 1991. As I look at the
career progression of so much home-grown talent within
our organisation I confess to feeling immensely proud.
It is our wonderful people who make this business
successful & we will continue to invest in them in
order to give you, our customers, the best possible
service.
Earlier
this month I met with Bishop
Dr Derek Webley MBE, Chairman of the West Midlands
Police Authority. Bishop Webley has asked that I
organise a date for himself & senior Police
Authority representatives to meet with operators who
have suffered from truck crime to inform their
decision making on our behalf. If you are interested
in attending this meeting please e-mail
me directly.
With
best wishes,

Chris

New
vehicle of the month
Warley Carriers Limited of West Bromwich, West Midlands have just begun their 2009 re-fleeting programme with the first 5 new Scania R420 3 axle Highlines and R 380 2 axle Topline tractor
units.
All the trucks are supplied on fixed cost contact hire with full R+M. This enables Gerry and Chris Kibble, together with Operations Manager Mike Rowberry, to concentrate on running their very successful business, whilst leaving the day-to-day operational issues in the the hands of Keltruck with the aid of Scania Support Programmes.
With depots at Colnbrook and Belfast the new trucks are expected to cover 100,000km per annum.
The vehicles were supplied by
Keltruck's
Martyn Hill.

Meet
the team
This
month sees the fifth
installment of our new
feature where,
each month, we profile a member of the top team. This
month our founder
& Chairman, Chris
Kelly...
Kelnews: How would you describe your role at Keltruck?
CJK: Captain of the jumbo jet!
Kelnews:
When did you start Keltruck?
CJK: We opened in April 1983 with Kenrick Way, West
Bromwich as our sole site initially.
Kelnews: What did you do before
founding Keltruck?
CJK: Before starting Keltruck I was self employed as a
second hand truck dealer.
Kelnews: So how did you get into the industry then?
CJK: I started as an apprentice aged 15 at Attwood
Garages, Wolverhampton. At the age of 20 I joined
Ryland Vehicle Group (Seddon Atkinson dealers) as
Assistant to the General Manager, progressing to truck
sales within a couple of years & never looked
back! I left to start my own used trucks business aged
24.
Kelnews: What do you like about the industry?
CJK: It's got to be the number of great characters
& close personal friendships I've formed through
being involved in the industry all of my working life
like the late great Alan Murrall of Bowmur Haulage
& Don Taylor of Taylors of Martley.
Kelnews: What do you do outside of work?
CJK: Spend time with my wife of 37 years, Sonia, &
walk my dogs. Anything with an engine is a great
attraction to me. My real passion is flying
helicopters
see kelair.net.
Kelnews: What was your first car?!
CJK: A Vauxhall Victor FB Deluxe, registration number
326 1KV, with the back wing falling off! It stayed
that way until I had the money to repair & sell it
on.
Kelnews: So what does the future hold?
CJK: Staying healthy & increasing the penetration
of Scania trucks in the Midlands!
Good
News for Old Friends
Keeping your Scania 4-series truck as good as new and your costs under control
At Keltruck there's Good News For Old Friends literally as
that's the name of Scania's new aftersales programme designed to
help the operators of Scania 4-series trucks maintain them in
the best possible condition at minimum cost.
We appreciate that preserving your vehicles in prime order
is a vital part of the profitability mix, especially when they have
clocked up a number of year's service. So we have designed a
new Keltruck Scania Support Programme with the 4-series specifically
in mind.
At the heart of the programme is a
Keltruck Scania Service contract that provides comprehensive maintenance to manufacturers
guidelines and ensures protection of your operators licence at a
fixed monthly cost. The programme features 12 or 24 months
contract terms and includes all ministry inspections and routine
maintenance to manufacturers guidelines.
In addition to the above you can also rest assured that we
never compromise on quality and that only Scania parts, fitted
by fully trained Keltruck Scania technicians, will be used on your vehicle.

Exceptional
customer service deserves recognition
Have
you received exceptional service from a member of
staff at Keltruck? If
so, please tell
us about it.
Congratulations
to:
-
All
of the staff at Keltruck
Tamworth. From Mr J Windsor
of Maritime Transport, Coleshill, West Midlands
for "the service quality being of the highest standard and for the
helpfulness of staff where nothing is too much trouble."
-
Adrian O'Mara
at Keltruck Rugby.
From Mr Jack Parker, PC 23 T.I.U. "I am a vehicle examiner for Warwickshire Police, I am currently dealing with a case involving a Scania
artic and needed some help regarding the suspension and
steering on the truck. I appeared at Keltruck
Rugby unannounced and Adrian could not have been more helpful. He immediately stopped what he was doing and dealt with my request in a really positive and up beat
way. Furthermore I needed to contact him again later the same day and the response was exactly the same faxing over some component information almost immediately. In short it was a first class service and portrayed an excellent image of the company."
-
All
the staff at Keltruck
West Bromwich. From Martine Smith of AAH Pharmaceuticals.
"Thank you for the work that went into achieving
the programme that you helped deliver last week and over the weekend.
What a piece of cross company team work! Timescales
were tight in all areas but, as normal, nothing was too much trouble and as a
result we have a fantastic, spectacular fleet of shiny red trucks and boxes at Stoke and the out-bases operating as we speak."

Fixed
price repairs
At
Keltruck
we are continuously looking for ways to make your everyday business easier to manage. And when it comes to repairs, we think that helping you avoid unexpected costs is a great way to achieve that.
Why are we introducing fixed price repairs?
To help make life easier. For most repair work, you will now know the total fitted price in advance no surprises on your invoice. And that invoice will be straightforward and easy to understand with no more confusing parts costs and hourly rates. Sounds good, doesnt it?
How does
Keltruck calculate fixed price repairs?
Keltruck
& Scania
have used their extensive experience to identify how long it takes to carry out specific workshop tasks most efficiently. The price you pay will be based upon those times. Our fixed prices also include parts, any related items that also need to be changed and consumables, such as oil. Quite simply, weve taken the guesswork out of repair estimates. Most fixed prices will appear in our published price list, or
we will be able to advise the cost when you call to book your vehicle in.
What happens if we find another fault while the vehicle is in the workshop?
If, while working on your vehicle, we find another part that should be repaired, we will call you before we take any action to let you know what is involved.
Are there any preconditions for fixed price repairs?
Our fixed price repairs are available on all Scania vehicles which are not covered by a Scania Support Programme. All we ask is that the vehicle is in normal condition and free from equipment that might prevent normal access such as catwalks.
What will the invoice look like?
The invoice will be completely straightforward. It will simply state the repair and total charge, as it appears in the price list.
Will fixed price repairs affect my delivery time?
From our perspective, fixed price repairs mean better workshop planning and more accurate delivery times. That means better, more responsive service, assurance of parts availability, and higher uptime for you.
